JM to write explanation of how data is fed to the publicly available site, how artifacts without images are given the "no image available" tag, how the number of artifacts on the front page is calculated, and any other interesting elements.The public facing site is essentially a stripped down version of the staff CMS but lacking all editing controls, administrative controls, and editing history. The only pages used from the CMS are the search results and artifact description pages. These pages are built from php templates and the public facing site has been altered to match the style of the entire MMI site.
