Release 7.0

The version 7.0 release includes new Transport and Insurance/Indemnity procedures, changes and additions to various records, and bug fixes.

Release date and schedule

CollectionSpace version 7.0 was released in August 2021.

Release notes

Release 7.0 contains breaking changes. If you have customized your installation of CollectionSpace, you may need to update your configuration to work with 7.0. If you have written reports, you may need to update those reports to be compatible with 7.0. Breaking changes are noted below with BREAKING.

New functionality

The Reference Number field now appears on the Pot Tag record in the Botanical Garden profile. https://collectionspace.atlassian.net/browse/DRYD-906

A new Transport procedure has been added.
A new Insurance/Indemnity procedure has been added.
Three new values have been added to the inscription types option list: credits, plaque, and signage.
The Use of Collections procedure is now available in the Local History and Material Culture profile.
The Named Collection field now appears on the Object record in the Materials profile.

Schema changes

On the Media record, a new field has been added: Alt Text.
On the Object record, the Annotation field group has been added to all profiles (previously, these fields only existed on the Fine and Contemporary Art and Anthropology profiles).
On the Object record, a new repeating field group, Reported to National NAGPRA, has been added to the Anthropology profile.
BREAKING On the Object record, some NAGPRA-related fields in the Anthropology profile have moved into the new repeating Reported to National NAGPRA group. Data will be automatically migrated from the old fields to new fields when CSpace 7 starts up for the first time. If you have written reports that use the old fields, your queries will need to be updated to use the new fields.

On the Exhibition record, a new Publish To field has been added.
On the Group record, a new repeating field group, Checklist Information, has been added to the Public Art profile.
On the Material record in the Materials profile, a new repeating field group, Featured Collection, has been added.

Bug fixes

The county field now appears on the Work record in the Public Art profile.
Searching to select records for a Report or Data Update now works.
In the Public Art profile, Place authority values can now be entered in a search on the Object record’s Computed Current Location field.
The creation of multiple contact records on Person and Organization records is now disallowed in the back end. Previously, this could have prevented certain Person and Organization records from being saved.
BREAKING In exported CSV files, the format of column headers has changed for fields that are controlled by authorities. The column headers for an exported field now consistently include the field name, the authority name, and the vocabulary name. If you process the exported CSV files, your programs may need to be updated.
