Time-Based Media Requirements

Definition

The cataloging, description, conservation, and exhibition of objects and components that are born-digital and/or time-based; e.g. video art, websites, NFTs, GIFs, etc.

Requirements

  • Provide a structure for the description of all components of a born-digital or time-based work

  • Provide a structure for the description of all changes (i.e. iterations) to a born-digital or time-based work as a result of conservation work, exhibition, loan, or other lifecycle event

  • Ensure that vocabularies, lists, and schema can change as the technology born-digital and time-based works are built on change
