7.1 Release Special Instructions 

  • Public Web Browser is a new template with this release. This template includes all fields in a default public web browser display.
  • Time Based Media is a new template with this release. This template is available with the FCART and Common profiles and is the only way to access the two Technical Specification blocks.

Test 1: New Record From Existing

  • Actions
    1. Create a new Cataloging record, fill in the required fields and save the record
    2. Write duplicate in one of the text fields and tab out of the field, but do not save the record
    3. Click the Clone  button at the top of the record
  • Expected
    • The Clone button should be inactivate
  • Actions
    1. Save the record
    2. Print out the record for reference
    3. Click the Clone  button at the top of the record
  • Expected
    • A new record should appear with all the same information as the previous record except for the ID number
      • Exceptions: the ID number is carried over for L/M/I records, the Title field for Groups, and the Display Name for all Authorities
  • Actions
    1. Fill in required fields as needed
    2. Save the record
    3. Do a search for "duplicate" in all cataloging records
  • Expected
    • Both the first record and the duplicate should appear in the search results
  • Actions:
    • Repeat Test 1 for all Procedural and Authority record types

Test 2: Template View

Please repeat this test for Cataloging: Public Browser; Cataloging: Photography template; Cataloging: Time Based Media (Only FCART and Common)

  • Actions
    1. Navigate to the Create New screen
    2. Select Object (or Intake)
  • Expected
    • A new, blank Cataloging (or Intake) record is created
  • Actions
    • In the drop down to the right of the Save button, select a template from the dropdown
  • Expected
    • The data entry form should change, showing a limited set of fields as per the template definition
      • By default, Cataloging records have eleven sections. For the 7.1 release, The Rights Management Information and Rights in management Information are new sections. 
      • When using Public Web Browser Template, only the fields that are viewable from within the web browser will display.
      • When using the Time-Based Media Template (only available from Common and FCART), two additional sections will appear:
        • Technical Specifications: Audio/Video/Still
        • Technical Specifications: Software/Web
      • When using the Inventory template, Cataloging records show only four sections with far fewer fields than in the default template:
        • Object Identification Information
        • Object Description Information
        • Object Production Information
        • Object Hierarchy
      • When using the Photograph template, Cataloging records show only five sections:
        • Object Identification Information
        • Object Description Information
        • Object Production Information
        • Reference Information
        • Object Hierarchy
      • By default, Intake records have six sections.
      • When using the Doorstop Donation template, Intake records show only three sections:
        • Object Entry Information
        • Location
        • Condition
    • All fields should be blank
  • Actions
    1. Fill in any required fields
    2. Click save
    3. Do a search for the new record
  • Expected
    • Record should appear in search results
  • Actions
    • Click on the record in the search results
  • Expected
    • Record should appear with previously entered data and still be limited to the template view
  • Actions
    • From the existing record, select the Clone button 
  • Expected
    • The newly created record will retain the template view of the record it was cloned from
  • Actions
    1. Save the record
    2. In the drop down to the right of the Save button, select "Standard template" from the dropdown
  • Expected
    • Record should return to full cataloging data entry view

Test 3: Keyboard Navigation


Please note: If testing with Safari, in order to be able to tab to all the controls, you need to either hold down the option key while pressing tab, or check the option labeled "Press Tab to highlight each item on a webpage" in Preferences/Advanced. 


  • Do the following actions using keyboard only:
    1. Go to any existing procedural record
    2. Navigate to Clone button
    3. Create new record
  • Expected:
    • At all times it should be possible to see which field has focus
    • All fields and buttons should be accessible
  • Using keyboard only:
    1. Go to the create new page
    2. Create a new record
    3. Change the template view of the record
  • Expected:
    1. At all times it should be possible to see which field has focus
    2. All fields and buttons should be accessible
