Reporting from a Single Record

Test 1: Running a Report

  • Actions:
    1. Select Acquisitions from the dropdown in the top center search box
    2. From the search results, choose one of the Acquisition records that has an ID number that includes the words "QA Test Acquisition All Fields"
    3. Once the record is open, click on the Reports menu on the right sidebar
    4. Select the Acquisition Summary report from the list
  • Expected 
    1. The Acquisition Summary report configuration screen will pop up
  • Action 
    1. Choose any format from the Dropdown
    2. Click the Run button
  • Expected:
    • A progress bar or spinner may appear
    • User should not be able to edit the record or navigate away
    • After some time, a browser dialog should appear, asking you to open or save the report. (Note: Depending on your browser and configuration, and on the choice you make from the browser dialog, the report may be opened directly within a browser window or tab, be opened by a 'helper' application, or be stored as a new file within your browser's downloads folder.)
    • View the report - within a window or tab in your browser, if it appears there, or by opening it via a helper application such as Acrobat Reader, PDF-XChange or Foxit (Windows), or Preview (Mac OS X), if that's where it appears - and verify that it contains the relevant values from the Acquisition record.
  • Actions:
    1. Variation A: Save the report
    2. Variation B: Open the report
    3. Variation A: Navigate to and open the report in your OS
  • Expected:
    • Variation A: Report should be saved and contain the correct information
    • Variation B: Report should open and contain the correct information

Test 3: Running a report with unsaved changes

  • Actions:
    1. Continue from Acquisitions record in Test 1. Change the Acquisition Method field to Transfer. Do not save.
    2. Choose a report from the Reports menu on the right sidebar
    3. Click the Run button
  • Expected:
    • The Acquisition Summary report configuration screen will pop up
    • A warning will appear noting "This record has changes that have not been saved. The report will not include any unsaved data"
  • Actions:
    1. Click Cancel
  • Expected:
    • Dialog should be dismissed
    • No other changes should occur
  • Actions:
    1. Click the Run button again
    2. Click the close symbol
  • Expected:
    • Dialog should be dismissed
    • No other changes should occur
  • Actions:
    1. Click the Run button again
  • Expected:
    • A progress bar or spinner should appear
    • User should not be able to edit the record or navigate away
    • After some time, one of these two things should happen, depending on the format of the report you've chosen and your browser settings:
      1. Scenario One: The report will be opened open directly in the browser window.
      2. Scenario Two: A browser dialog should appear, asking the user to open or save the report.
  • Expected (In Scenario One only):
    • Report should appear in a browser window and should not include the last change you made before clicking Save and Run
  • Actions (In Scenario Two only):
    1. Variation A: Save and Open the report
    2. Variation B: Open the report
  • Expected (In Scenario Two only):
    • Variation A: Report should be saved and contain the correct information, not including the last change you made before clicking Run
    • Variation B: Report should open and contain the correct information, not including the last change you made before clicking Run

NOTE: If you move to another place in CSpace after completing this test (i.e. the next test), and are warned about leaving a record with unsaved changes, please select REVERT AND CONTINUE from the pop up. Other tests depend on the data in this record staying the same.

Reporting from the Tools Menu

Test 1: Running a Report

    • Click on the Tools item in the top menu bar
    • Click on the Reports tab, and then Group Basic List
  • Expected
    • The Group Basic List report description will show on the right
  • Action
    • Click on the Run button at the top or bottom of the Group Basic List description page
  • Expected
    • The Group Basic List selection popup will open
  • Action
    • Click on the Select button (underneath Record*)
  • Expected
    • The Group search dialogue will open
  • Action
    • Click on the Search button at the bottom of the page
  • Expected
    • A list of search results will be returned; at least one result should have QA TEST Group Report in the Title
  • Action
    • Click on the checkbox to the left of the QA TEST Group Report record
    • Click on the Use Selection box
  • Expected
    • You will be returned to the Group Basic List selection popup
  • Action
    • Select any format from the Format dropdown
    • Click the Run button
  • Expected
    • A progress bar or spinner may appear
    • After some time, a browser dialog should appear, asking you to open or save the report.
