Search Across Record Types - QA Test Plan
Test 1: Search for a keyword sesame
- Actions:
- Create a new Object Cataloging record
- Enter any value into the Identification Number field
- Enter the word sesame in the Brief Description field
- Save
- Select the Clone button to create a new Object Cataloging record
- Enter any value into the Identification Number field
- Save
- Select the Clone button to create a new Object Cataloging record
- Enter any value into the Identification Number field
- Move the term sesame from the Brief Description field into the Distinguishing Features field
- Save
- Type sesame into the search field at the top center
- Select Objects from the record type dropdown, and click Search
- Expected:
- A list of search results are displayed on the Find and Edit page. The list should contain the three records described above.
- The list should consist of the following three columns: ID number, Title, and Updated
- The text field above the Search results displays the keyword you entered
- At the top of the results list it should say 1-x of y records found, where y is the number of results
- Actions:
- Create another Object Cataloging record that contains sesame
- Save
- Search for sesame
- Expected:
- Check that the number of results is increased by 1, and the new record is displayed in the list
- Actions:
- Click Search in the top navigation
- Select Objects from the Search menu
- Enter sesame into the Keywords field
- Click Search
- Expected:
- Check that the expected results are displayed in the list. The list should include the four (4) Cataloging records you created
- Actions:
- Click the Identification Number heading above the list results
- Expected:
- Results should sort by identification number (in ascending or descending order)
- Actions:

- Results should sort by identification number in the opposite order (from ascending to descending order)

- Enter sesame in the Search field at the top center
- Select All Records from the record type dropdown menu.

- Expected:
- Check that the number of results has been increased by 6, and that each type of record is displayed in the list.
Test 3: Search for a key phrase
- Actions:
- Create a new Object Cataloging record
- Enter any value into the Identification Number field
- Enter the phrase sesame street in the Brief Description field
- Save
- Select the Clone button to create a new Object Cataloging record
- Enter any value into the Identification Number field
- Save
- Select the Clone button to create a new Object Cataloging record
- Enter any value into the Identification Number field
- Move the phrase sesame street to the Distinguishing Features field
- Save
- Enter sesame street into the top center search
- Select Objects from the record type dropdown
- Click Search
- Expected:
- A list of search results are displayed. The list should contain the three records described above.

Test 5: Boolean Keyword Search
- Actions:
- Create three loan out records with the phrase queen size bed in one of the text fields.
- Create three loan in records with the phrase king size bed in one of the text fields.
- Go to the top center search box and select All Records from the record type drop down
- Type queen and bed into the the keyword search text field and click search
- Expected:
- The first three records you created should appear in the search results
- Actions:
- Type king and bed not queen into the keyword search text field and click search
- Expected:
- The second set of three records you created should appear in the search results
- Actions:
- Type queen or king into the keyword search text field and click search
- Expected:
- All of the records you created should appear in the search results
