Deployment transition and launch

Introduction

Once you have developed data migration scripts and screen customizations for the set of functions you plan to deploy, you can then get ready for the final migration to CollectionSpace.

Training

This can be minimized, but not eliminated, by involving future users of the system early on in testing.

  • Train future users of the system
  • Train operational and support staff

Documentation

  • User-level documentation to supplement what is delivered by CollectionSpace
  • Support and operational documentation to supplement what is delivered by CollectionSpace

Environment testing

  • Performance requirements and stress and volume testing
  • Security requirements and testing

Transition and launch

  • Plan for decommissioning of your current system. Mothballing, storing old data safely so you can go back and look at it.
  • Set up support capabilities (if provided)
  • Set up production environment and confirm operation
  • Migrate data using the data/ETL scripts and the customizations you have developed
  • Perform end to end testing.
  • Final User Acceptance Testing and signoff
  • Launch new system (in parallel or otherwise)
  • See Ongoing support activities
  • Project closeout and celebration
