Test 1: Merge Authority Items

Action

  • Click on the Tools item in the top menu bar

  • Click on the Data Updates tab, and then Merge Authority Items

...

  • You will receive a confirmation message: “Completed Merge Authority Items: [Some number of] records affected. Updated the target record, QA TARGET [Authority]. [Some number of] records referenced the source record, QA SOURCE [Authority]. Deleted the source record, QA SOURCE [Authority].”

Test 2 - Confirm Authority Items Merged

Action

  • In the top search box, choose your assigned Authority from the dropdown

  • Search for QA Source

...

  • Click on the record ID that contains QA Merge Source

  • After the record opens, check the following field depending on your assigned authority to confirm that the Source term has been replaced by the Target term:

    • Citations: Object > Reference Information > Reference

    • Concepts: Object > Object Description Information > Content > Concept

    • Organizations: Object > Object Production Information > Object Production Organization

    • Persons: Object > Object Production Information > Object Production Person

    • Places: Object > Object Collection Information > Field Collection Place

    • Storage Locations: Location/Movement/Inventory > Current Location

    • Taxon: Object > Object Description Information > Biological Information > Scientific name

    • Work: Object > Object Description Information > Content > Work
