Create New
Create New shows all record types you have permission to create. Select the radio button to the left of the record type you would like to create, and then select the create button at the bottom right of the screen.
The record types listed above (e.g. Cataloging, Acquisition) are primarily based on the procedures found in the SPECTRUM museum documentation standard. Each record includes a data entry screen with the fields necessary to "document objects and the processes they undergo." Later sections of the manual will explain how to work with records to manage collections information.

Create a Record from a Template
Data entry templates consist of a number of pre-determined fields.Templates in CollectionSpace are created during initial configuration. To create a record from a template, navigate to the Create New screen. Click the radio button of the record type you would like to create. If a template is available, a menu will appear asking the user to choose whether they want to create the record from scratch or from a template.
Select the From Template option, choose an option from the drop down menu, and press Create. The user will be taken to a record that displays a limited set of fields.
