CollectionSpace for System Administrators

CollectionSpace for System Administrators

Getting Started with CollectionSpace

Installing, configuring and maintaining CollectionSpace requires either a hosting provider or a local system administrator. Our registered hosting providers take care of installation, back-ups, upgrades and general maintenance for you.

If you prefer to self-host, please consider contributing to our development fund. See Self Hosting CollectionSpace for links to get started.

Hosting Options for CollectionSpace

The preferred method for installing CollectionSpace is via a hosting provider. Lyrasis hosts our Anthropology (ANTHRO), Fine and Contemporary Art (FCART), and Local History Material Cultural (LHMC) profiles, as well as the Material Order consortia. For additional information about Lyrasis-Hosting options, please visit Benefits of Hosting with Lyrasis. Lyrasis-hosted service ensures that you remain current with the latest release and that your data is secured and protected. A portion of your hosting fees also contributes back to the ongoing development of the software.

Creative West hosts the Public Art Archive project using the Public Art profile. For additional information about the Public Art Archive, please visit Public Art and Creative West.

If you prefer self-hosting options, please consider making an annual contribution to the CollectionSpace program. Annual financial support allows the CollectionSpace team to focus on development efforts and advancing program priorities to serve our users. Please visit Contribute to CollectionSpace for more information.

Self Hosting CollectionSpace

If you self host CollectionSpace, you will need a local system administrator to install CollectionSpace, upgrade the software with each release and perform maintenance tasks. The following documentation is available to guide this work.

Please note: We advise against customizations. Customizations may make upgrades difficult or impossible depending upon the extent of the customizations applied.
