Search Functional Analysis

Introduction

Moving Image's CMS has separate search interfaces for each area of the system. Most searches have both a basic and an advanced interface. See the collections management and vocabulary sections for extended descriptions of the secondary searches.

Object Search

Users may use either a full-text keyword search (which may be limited to objects with attached media) or an advanced search that lets the user search by keyword and limit by classification, date, user, etc.

• The keyword search field is free text, the date field is limited to dates, other fields are populated by dropdowns

Use: Frequent (both versions)

Search Results

Search results may be viewed with text labels or via thumbnail image only. Search results may be sorted by accession number, alphabetically (off the title field), or by relevance (not used).
