Relationship Requirements
Definition
The management and documentation of the relationships between and among object, procedural, and organizational records.
Requirements
The system should allow the user to:
- Create a defined relationship between records (e.g. an object record is "part of" an acquisition record; a media record "depicts" an object record, etc.)
- Create a defined relationship between a record and a term (e.g. an object was created in a place, a loan was requested by an organization).
- Create a hierarchical relationship between records of the same type (e.g. a catalog record for a teacup is a "child" of a catalog record for a tea set; a place authority term record for the United States is a "parent" of a place authority term record for Maine.)
- View hierarchical relationships graphically
- Pass on relationships or data from a parent to a child record
- List all related records via search or reporting
- Pivot between related records
